An HSS10x5x1/4 structural steel beam connects to an HSS14x6x1/2 hollow structural section column using a welded shear plate and bolts. A 5/8-inch by 6-inch A36 end plate is welded to the end of the beam. A 1/2-inch by 6-inch A36 shear plate connects the beam end plate to the column face with two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325N bolts spaced at 4 inches vertically, with 3-inch edge distances.
