A vertical four-inch or six-inch standpipe riser extends adjacent to a two-hour fire rated stair and shaft wall, supported by a riser clamp anchored at the intermediate level landing of the exit stair. A two-and-a-half-inch welded outlet on the vertical standpipe connects via a schedule forty threaded pipe nipple to a brass two-and-a-half-inch hose valve, positioned thirty inches above the finished floor with its male thread directed outward toward the stair. Flexible couplings are located within twelve inches above and below the floor slab penetration.
