An HSS8x8x3/8 hollow structural section column connects to a concrete roof slab using an embedded steel plate and bolted shear plates. The connection features a three-quarter-inch by twelve-inch by one-foot-zero-inch flat embed plate anchored into the concrete with four one-half-inch diameter by zero-foot-six-inch A108 headed studs. Two three-eighths-inch by four-inch by zero-foot-six-inch flat shear plates weld to the embed plate with typical quarter-inch fillet welds and bolt to the column. The column contains vertical long slotted holes while the shear plates have standard holes, secured with two one-half-inch diameter A325N bolts.
