A one-inch schedule 40 pipe acts as a longitudinal sway brace between an overhead I-beam and a fire sprinkler main pipe. The brace connects to the structural steel using a universal sway brace attachment. At the lower end, a swivel sway brace fitting joins the brace to a pipe clamp secured around the main pipe. The brace angle is maintained between forty-five and ninety degrees from the horizontal. Longitudinal bracing must be installed in accordance with NFPA 13-2016 section 9.3.5.6.
