A cooling tower edge is supported adjacent to a W12X35 wide flange steel beam with a one-half inch clearance gap. A structural steel angle measuring 3x3x1/4 inches is attached beneath the cooling tower edge to support the grating. A backgouge weld preparation is specified at the angle-to-beam connection.
