An HSS10x5x1/4 structural steel tube beam terminates with a five-eighths-inch by six-inch A36 steel end plate welded to its web and flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds. A one-half-inch by six-inch A36 shear plate is welded to the end plate and connects to a matching shear plate welded to an HSS14x6x1/2 structural steel column. The connection is secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts through the overlapping shear plates. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the column shear plate to the face of the hollow structural section column.
