An obstructing structural member is located directly adjacent to the sprig, requiring a 1-inch to 6-inch clearance from the obstruction to the sprinkler deflector. Lateral restraint must be provided for sprigs greater than 4 feet in length. The maximum distance from the deck to the sprinkler deflector is 22 inches, with deflector placement complying with NFPA 13 requirements.
