An existing diagonal wide-flange beam supports a three-eighths-inch shear tab welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. A continuous angle support connects to the assembly, aligning with the metal deck above. An L3x3x1/4 by two-foot angle fastens to the shear tab using seven-eighths-inch diameter bolts, maintaining a one-and-one-quarter-inch minimum edge distance all around. A maximum one-inch clearance is maintained typically at each deck low flute.
