A one-and-one-quarter-inch schedule forty steel sway brace pipe connects a fire sprinkler crossmain, feedmain, or branchline to the top chord of a steel bar joist or truss. The lower end of the brace pipe clamps to the water-filled pipe using a Tolco Figure 4L pipe clamp and a Tolco Figure 910 swivel sway brace. The upper end attaches to the structural framing via a Tolco Figure 980 swivel sway brace and a Tolco Figure 825 bar joist clamp mounted securely over the joist top chord. The assembly forms a forty-five degree angle to resist lateral seismic and sway loads on the fire protection piping.
