A hollow structural section 5x5x1/4 post is set into a matching HSS 5-1/2x5-1/2x1/4 sleeve embedded within a reinforced concrete footing and pier. The post connects to the sleeve with a three-sixteenths fillet weld. The concrete pier is reinforced vertically and laterally with number three ties at four inches on center and number four U-bars at sixteen inches on center. The surrounding curb and wall feature number four longitudinal bars at twelve inches maximum spacing, with specific detailing at the top and bottom of the wall and pier.
