Concrete wall and footing penetrations feature a two-inch layer of expanded polystyrene wrapped around the utility pipe maintaining a two-inch minimum clearance. Where the pipe diameter Dw exceeds six inches, two number six reinforcing bars are provided on each face top and bottom. For footings where the penetration dimension Df exceeds four inches, number six reinforcing bars at twelve inches spacing by four feet long are installed top and bottom. If Df exceeds one-third of the footing height Hf, the footing is stepped per detail A.
