A penetrating pipe passes through a framed gypsum wall assembly consisting of gypsum board over framing. The annular space around the pipe is sealed with firestop material and perimeter fire barrier sealants applied at the wall surfaces. The assembly maintains the fire resistance rating of the rated wall partition at the service penetration.
