An HSS8x8x3/8 hollow structural section column is welded to a 1/2-inch thick by 1'-2" square steel base plate with a 5/16-inch fillet weld specified on the flats only. The base plate measures 1'-2" by 1'-2" and is secured by four 3/4-inch diameter ASTM F1554-55 anchor rods arranged in a 10-inch square pattern.
