Erosion control measures for catch basins located at low points use silt fences and hay bale filters. The silt fence installation features two-by-four wooden stakes driven a minimum of twelve inches into the ground, supplemented by wooden lateral cross braces as needed. Filter fabric is wrapped around the assembly and tucked six to twelve inches into grade. The hay bale filter installation anchors each bale with two two-by-two by three-foot stakes around the catch basin. Stormwater inlets which do not discharge to sediment traps or basins must be protected until the tributary areas are stabilized. Sediment must be removed from inlet protection after each storm event.
