An existing hollow structural section column bears on a three-eighths-inch plate secured to a concrete slab over metal deck, anchored with a half-inch diameter expansion anchor having a two-inch effective embedment. An existing wide-flange beam supports the assembly near the edge of the slab. An existing eighteen-gauge metal deck closure plate is welded to a three-eighths-inch plate with a five-sixteenths fillet weld, maintaining a one-inch clearance. Section A-A details the column base orientation, edge distance dimensions of four and a half inches, and a quarter-inch weld configuration.
