A structural steel connection secures a channel and bar grating assembly atop a vertical column. One-and-a-quarter-inch steel bar grating spans the top, conforming to section 05 50 00 specifications. A three-quarter-inch cap plate connects to the support below using four three-quarter-inch A325N bolts with typical two-inch spacings. Stiffener plates matching the column flange width extend up to the mid-height of the beam and are welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on two sides.
