A smoke detector unit mounts directly to the exterior wall of an HVAC duct via two number ten sheet metal screws. A sampling tube extends from the housing through pre-drilled holes in the duct wall to monitor internal airflow. The housing contains the detector electronics and wiring terminals aligned with the airflow path.
