A steel beam bears on a three-quarter-inch by five-inch by two-foot-zero-inch bearing plate set within a concrete masonry unit wall pocket. The beam flange is left unwelded to the bearing plate, and the pocket is filled and grouted after installation. The assembly includes two five-foot-zero-inch vertical reinforcing bars on each side of the vertical dowel, with three-eighths-inch typical stiffener plates welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Section views B-B and A-A detail the embedment plate layout, headed anchor studs, and ledger positions.
