An in-duct smoke detector is mounted within a ductwork run that penetrates a one-hour rated wall equipped with a ceiling damper. A four-square deep junction box connects via three-quarter-inch raceways, while a half-inch raceway extends to a remote LED indicator when required. A pancake box links the detector to the electrical wiring. A minimum twenty-four by twenty-four-inch access door or hatch, furnished by others, is located directly below the detector in the ceiling. A minimum twelve-inch access door is also provided on the ductwork.
