Drop sprinkler head positioning relative to structural obstructions is governed by the distance from the sprinklers to the side of the obstruction labeled as dimension A and the maximum allowance distance of the deflector above the bottom of the obstruction labeled as dimension B. The accompanying table provides code-compliant threshold values ranging from less than one foot horizontal distance allowing zero vertical clearance up to seven feet or more allowing thirty-five inches or less maximum allowance distance.
