A structural steel column connects to a base plate anchored into a concrete footing with anchor bolts. A one-half-inch gusset plate is welded to the column web and connects to a diagonal L4x4x1-1/4 angle brace using two five-eighth-inch diameter A325-N bolts. A flat one-half-inch by four-inch by zero-foot-eight-inch stiffener plate is welded to the column web with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds.
