A downlead conductor and equipment grounding conductor tie into a ground ring counterpoise via exothermic welds set 760mm below grade typically. A vertical ground rod connects to the ground ring using an exothermic weld fitting. All conductor intersections and rod connections utilize exothermic welding to ensure a permanent electrical bond.
