A concrete slab on grade terminates at a thickened edge with a minimum twelve-inch depth and width. A continuous vapor barrier extends underneath the slab and turns down to the bottom of the thickened edge. Top and bottom slab reinforcement continues into the edge, with additional top and bottom bars matching the slab reinforcement that stop short of intersecting footings. A control joint is cut into the top of the slab near the edge. Subgrade preparation is specified per typical slab-on-grade details.
