A metallic conduit with a minimum diameter of one-half inch penetrates a one-hour or two-hour fire-rated gypsum board wall framed with wood or steel studs. The annular space around the conduit is sealed with a bead of three-M fire barrier moldable putty or CP twenty-five caulk. The firestop assembly is tested up to four hours in accordance with ASTM E eight-fourteen, UL fourteen-seventy-nine, and CAN/ULC S one-fifteen. Actual procedures depend upon the annular space between the pipe and the wall opening, requiring adherence to manufacturer instructions.
