A davit pedestal is mounted on a base plate measuring 1 inch by 1 foot by 1 foot in Grade 50 steel, centered on wide flange beams sized per plan. The assembly incorporates a 1/2-inch by 8-inch by 1-3/3-inch plate centered on the perpendicular wide flange beam, secured with 5/16-inch fillet welds typically. A 1/2-inch full-depth stiffener plate per typical detail and 3/8-inch partial-depth stiffener plates on each side of the web provide reinforcement. The davit pedestal itself is supplied by the manufacturer and welded by the pedestal designer or installer with a 3-inch weld.
