A 1/2-inch diameter Type 316 stainless steel rod is formed into a sump or ballast pocket with a 3 1/2-inch depth and 2 1/2-inch bend radius, embedded within a concrete slab. The stainless steel rod ties directly into the top layer of slab reinforcing bars. The formed pocket maintains a typical 12-inch spacing dimension.
