A concrete foundation embeds a Ufer ground consisting of at least twenty feet or more of steel reinforcing bars not less than one-half inch in diameter. A bare copper conductor of size number four-slash-zero American wire gauge or larger runs alongside the reinforcement for a minimum length of forty feet. Exothermic welds join the conductor and reinforcing bars to form the continuous grounding electrode. The grounding conductor routes up through a one-inch schedule forty polyvinyl chloride conduit with required bushings to the main electrical ground bus bar in the main electrical room.
