A number 4/0 bare copper ground cable forming the main ground loop connects via an exothermic welded connection positioned a minimum of thirty inches below the finished grade and below the local frost line. The burial depth protects the grounding electrode conductor and connection from freeze-thaw soil movement and seasonal temperature variations.
