A number two American Wire Gauge green insulated stranded copper wire forms the peripheral ground ring, connected to mounting bases using crimp type parallel taps such as Thomas & Betts catalog number 54740 or 54730 as required. A number six American Wire Gauge green insulated stranded copper wire serves as the supplementary ground or unit bond, tied into the ring with a crimp connection. The supplementary ground wire must maintain continuity to the peripheral ground ring at both ends. The end connected to the peripheral ground ring nearest the waveguide hatch plate or focal point turns toward the hatch plate, while the other end turns in the opposite direction. When continuity to the hatch plate is virtually equal from both ends, both turns are directed toward the hatch plate.
NOTE: SUPPLEMENTARY GROUND WIRE MUST HAVE CONTINUITY TO THE PERIPHERAL GROUND RING AT BOTH ENDS. THE END CONNECTED TO PERIPHERAL GROUND RING THAT IS NEAREST THE WAVE GUIDE HATCH PLATE OR FOCAL POINT SHALL TURN IN THE DIRECTION OF THE HATCH PLATE THE OTHER END SHALL TURN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. WHEN CONTINUITY TO THE HATCH PLATE IS VIRTUALLY EQUAL FROM BOTH ENDS OF THE SUPPLEMENTARY GROUND WIRE BOTH TURNS SHALL BE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE HATCH PLATE.
