An expansion joint in a concrete vault roof slab features a haunched profile. The joint is formed with a three-quarter-inch pre-molded expansion joint filler and centered number four dowels at twelve inches on center measuring three feet zero inches long. The haunched concrete slab features number four ties at twelve inches, one continuous number five reinforcing bar, and number four reinforcing bars at twelve inches each way top and bottom. The concrete slab thickness is eight inches at the main span, expanding to two feet six inches at the haunched support, with a one-foot dimension at the haunch shelf.
