Adhesive dowels connect an existing concrete wall and a new shotcrete wall. The existing concrete surface is roughened to a one-quarter inch minimum amplitude at the cold joint. All reinforcing bars and the wall surface are thoroughly cleaned of rebound before placement. The shotcrete is placed in distinct vertical sequences with a leveled construction joint.
