A 3/4-inch by 10-foot copper-clad steel ground rod is driven vertically into the earth and connected via an exothermic cadweld at the top. The assembly is housed within a 9-inch by 12-inch concrete valve box topped with a 9-inch round cast iron cover marked GROUND flush with the finished grade. An ADS extension and adapter connect to the box, surrounded by 6 inches of sand fill. Installation complies with 2016 California Electrical Code Section 250.53(G).
