An aluminum lightning protection roof conductor transitions down the exterior wall with an eight-inch minimum radius bend into a one-and-a-half-inch schedule 80 PVC conduit. The conduit attaches to the building exterior at five-foot intervals using two-hole non-metallic snap clamps and is painted to match the building siding. A six-inch expansion coupling is positioned at the middle of the riser. Near the finished grade, a type C PVC conduit body houses an internal copper bimetallic connector transitioning the run to a number 4/0 bare copper conductor enclosed in a one-and-a-half-inch schedule 40 PVC conduit. The grounding system connects to a ground rod via an exothermic weld or non-reversible mechanical connection and ties into a counterpoise.
