A counterpoise ground loop runs along the exterior perimeter wall at a minimum depth of thirty inches below the finished grade. An exothermically welded tee connection joins the ground conductors, and an inline splice prevents the passage of water through the cable strands. The ground cable connects directly to the web of the structural steel column near the column base plate. A waterproofing membrane is applied below grade along the exterior face of the foundation wall.
