A metallic conduit passes through an opening in a steel stud and gypsum board wall cavity filled with sound attenuation insulation. A one-quarter inch minimum diameter bead of 3M Fire Barrier CP 25 caulk or MP moldable putty seals the annular space around the conduit on both sides of the wall. The firestop assembly is tested up to four hours in accordance with ASTM E 814, UL 1479, and CAN/ULC S115 standards. Actual installation procedures depend upon the annular space dimensions between the conduit and the opening.
