A precast concrete communications hand hole with a split-lid cover is set into compacted fill over a three-inch minimum gravel base below the finished grade. Cast-in-place bells and segmented thinwall knockouts accommodate typical communications conduits entering the body. A one-half-inch by six-foot ground rod is installed in the ground hole, leaving six inches exposed for a connectivity point. The top cover is labeled for communications.
