An equipment rack backbox and associated electrical components are installed on a wood-framed wall. Two-by-six internal wall backing is securely attached to the wall structure behind the gypsum wallboard by the electrical contractor. Optional three-quarter-inch plywood backing may be used in place of the two-by-six backing and is attached over the finished gypsum wallboard to support the rack, including cut-outs for flush-mounted power junction boxes. The equipment rack backbox features a ten-by-ten-inch factory opening at the center to allow access to isolated ground power receptacles, which the electrical contractor may enlarge as required. Typical duplex power boxes are mounted on the wall studs flush to the wall face.
