Underground electrical conduit banks are bedded in a six-inch sand fill base with an additional six-inch sand fill layer surrounding the conduits, flanked by six inches of typical clearance on the sides. The trench is backfilled with native material compacted to ninety-five percent relative density up to the finished grade. Conduit coverage requires a minimum depth of twenty-four inches at any point from the finished grade. The trench width and depth vary based on the specific conduit bank configuration routed to the generator or utility.
