Elevator cab and shaft areas feature fire detection devices integrated into the building fire alarm system. Smoke detectors initiate phase one elevator recall. A 135-degree Fahrenheit heat detector is located within two feet of the sprinkler head per NFPA 72 standards, with one heat detector provided for each sprinkler head. An additional heat detector is required if the elevator control panel is located within the elevator door jamb. All heat detectors are configured to automatically disconnect power to the elevator prior to sprinkler water application and are connected to the fire alarm system without activating the building-wide alarm.
