A structural concrete caisson foundation supports a steel light pole with a maximum weight of 340 pounds and two light fixtures up to 30 pounds each. The 18-inch minimum diameter concrete caisson is reinforced with six number 6 vertical bars spaced equally and number 4 closed ties at 12 inches on center. Three number 4 closed ties at 1 1/2 inches on center are provided at the top of the caisson. Four 3/4-inch diameter threaded rods embed 2 feet 6 inches into the concrete with 1/4-inch by 3-inch square or 1/4-inch by 4-inch round plate washers typically. A 1-inch thick non-shrink grout layer sits beneath the manufacturer's base plate. The top of the concrete caisson features a 1/4 inch per foot slope all around and a 3/4-inch chamfer at the edge.
