This assembly consists of a trench with a minimum width of 18 inches, containing electrical conduits bedded in sand or flowable fill. A minimum 3-inch clearance is maintained around each conduit, with a 3-inch minimum bedding layer below and above the conduit bank. The trench is backfilled with imported 3/4-inch maximum diameter granular material, compacted after removing stones or hard matter that could damage the conduits. A 6-inch wide red detectable marking tape is installed 16 inches above the conduit bank. The surface is finished with a new concrete sidewalk section, which replaces the existing concrete removed between expansion joints, supported by an 8-inch deep compacted Grade 1 Untreated Base Course.
