A surface mounted light fixture with a maximum weight of forty pounds is suspended from overhead structural steel beams using universal I-beam flange clamps and additional channels where mains are not available. Four quarter-inch diameter sheet metal screws with fender washers secure the fixture housing to the suspension channel, with a gasket placed between the fixture and ceiling to prevent leaks. Positive mechanical fixture clamps are prohibited.
