A light pole base is embedded in a cast-in-place concrete foundation set below finish grade and adjacent to finished pavement, curb, and gutter. Conduit and wiring enter the foundation and route upward through the center of the pole base. A dimensional table specifies clearances for poles adjacent to vehicular traffic requiring a minimum two feet six inches of separation versus all other areas requiring zero to six inches. The concrete footing is poured with specified embedment depth and clearance dimensions appropriate for vehicular impact protection.
