An integral galvanized lipped steel mounting channel secured to the ceiling grid supports the exit sign. The ceiling assembly consists of main beams and cross tees suspended by hanger wires attached to the overhead structure, with wire ties securing the mounting channel to the cross beam. The electrical junction box fastens to the gypsum board ceiling using one-quarter inch screws with locking square washers and nuts. A fixture whip with a maximum length of six feet provides power from the junction box to the exit sign.
