A metallic conduit penetrates a framed gypsum board wall containing sound attenuation insulation between steel studs. A one-quarter-inch minimum diameter bead of 3M Fire Barrier CP 25 caulk or MP moldable putty seals the annular space around the conduit on both sides of the wall assembly. The firestop installation is tested up to four hours in accordance with ASTM E 814, UL 1479, and CAN/ULC S115 standards. Actual installation procedures depend upon the annular space between the pipe and the opening.
