A metallic conduit passes through a framed wall assembly constructed of steel studs and gypsum board layers on both faces. Sound attenuation insulation fills the internal stud cavity for acoustic separation in STC-rated walls. An annular space surrounds the conduit penetration at each gypsum board opening. A one-quarter-inch minimum diameter bead of 3M Fire Barrier CP 25 caulk or MP moldable putty seals the perimeter on both sides. The firestop system is tested up to four hours in accordance with ASTM E 814, UL 1479, and CAN/ULC S115.
