This installation detail shows detectable warning tape installed underground above electrical conduits and running between vaults or pullboxes. The marking tape consists of a polyethylene film six inches wide and zero point zero zero four inches thick with a minimum strength of one thousand seven hundred fifty pounds per square inch. The tape includes foil backing or detection wires for metal detector location up to a depth of five feet and carries a continuous inscription with specific color coding such as red for electric and orange for phone and signal. The tape is positioned a minimum of twelve inches above the conduits in parallel runs spaced not less than twelve inches on center across the width of the trench. The tape runs continuously from manhole to manhole with three feet of slack rolled up at each end inside the vaults or pullboxes.

TAPE SHALL BE PLACED IN PARALLEL RUNS WITH ONE STRIP ON EACH SIDE OF TRENCH AND STRIPS NOT LESS THAN 12" ON CENTER ACROSS WIDTH OF TRENCH. 6. TAPE TO BE RUN CONTINUOUS FROM MANHOLE TO MANHOLE AND HAVE 3 FEET SLACK ROLLED UP AT EACH END. RECORD LOCATION ON AS-BUILT DRAWINGS. 7. TAPE SHALL BE A MIN. OF 12" ABOVE CONDUITS.
