An electrical outlet box is recessed within a fire-rated wall assembly with a firestop putty pad wrapped externally around the box. A metallic mud ring finishes the wall surface flush with the gypsum board layers. The box may be metallic or non-metallic depending on project specifications and electrical requirements.
