A thickened edge isolation joint at a Portland cement concrete pavement transition next to existing PCCP of varying thickness. The proposed concrete pavement slab increases to one hundred twenty-five percent of its standard thickness T at the edge, sloping downward over a specified distance to the nearest joint of at least ten feet. A PCC sealant is detailed at the joint interface between the proposed and existing pavement. The assembly manages differential movement and edge loading at the pavement boundary.
