A fire hydrant with a five-and-one-quarter-inch Mueller Modern Centurion model number A-four-forty-two connects to a municipal water supply line. The assembly includes two two-and-one-half-inch nozzles and one five-inch nozzle, conforming to city fire department standards. A six-inch mechanical joint by flanged gate valve and a ten-inch by six-inch by ten-inch mechanical joint tee connect the main run. Concrete thrust blocks stabilize the underground pipe bends and tees, supported by one cubic yard of rock at the base. A valve box provides surface access to the gate valve extending through the gravel base and asphalt paving adjacent to a standard curb and gutter.
